Description:Volcanic Vents Feature data was collected from USGS sources and compiled by the Arizona Geological Survey. The data were collected from the USGS published reports on Holocene eruptive activity and probable greatest hazards from future eruptions at volcanic centers in California (Miller 1989), Cenozoic Volcanism in the Cascade Range and Columbia Plate (Swanson 1989), the Cascade Range (Wood and Kline 1990), and the Catalog of Active Volcanoes of the World" (CAVW), Smithsonian Institution, Global Volcanism Program Website, 2002. The data are available in the following formats: web feature service, web map service, ESRI Service Endpoint, and an Excel workbook for download. The workbook contains 7 worksheets, including information about the template, notes related to revisions of the template, resource provider information, the data, a field list (data mapping view), and vocabularies (data valid terms) used to populate the data worksheet. Field headers in the data worksheet include VolcanicVentName, MapLabel, FeatureType, LatDegree, LongDegree, Elevation, GeologicHistory, and Source. This resource was provided by the Arizona Geological Survey and made available for distribution through the National Geothermal Data System.
