Description:A single Brachiopod of Devonian age from mica schist, South Strafford, Vermont. Abstract. A single determinable brachiopod discovered in crystalline schists of the high-grade metamorphic zone on Whitcomb Hill, South Safford, Vermont, and identified as probably Spirifer murchisoni, is believed to indicate a Lower Devonian (Oriskanian) age for the rocks immediately east of the Memphremagog formation. The location of the specimen in the rock with regard to structure is noteworthy for it might reveal the recesses in highly metamorphosed rock likely to contain fossils.
