Description:The Colorado Thermal Springs Geothermometry provides calculations of common chemical geothermometers using the Giggenbach method for groundwater from thermal springs in the state of Colorado, provided by the Colorado Geological Survey. Chemical geothermometers are techniques based on one or more chemical species that allow estimations for the past temperature of a geothermal reservoir resource. Geothermometers are calculation techniques based on aqueous chemistry of thermal groundwater that allows an estimation of the temperature at which the groundwater last equilibrated with the host rocks in the subsurface (commonly assumed to be its reservoir temperature). This workbook provides calculated temperatures predicted by the most common geothermometers where sufficient data has been collected required to run these geothermometers. The geothermometry compilation is published as an Excel workbook. The Excel workbook contains 6 worksheets, including information about the template, notes related to revisions of the template, resource provider information, the data, a field list (data mapping view) and vocabularies (data valid terms) used to populate the data worksheet. This resource was compiled by the Colorado Geological Survey and made available for distribution through the National Geothermal Data System.
