A Seismic Analysis of the Grenville and Appalachian Provinces

Basic Information
Author: Stevens, Michael
Description:The reef terrace at Discovery Bay, Jamaica is 335 meters wide and extends from a depth of 3 meters to the fore-reef slope at 27 meters. In the four years following Hurricane Allen the terrace has recovered to a primary stage of succession, dominated by algae which trap and bind sediment, cement structural elements of the reef, and produce carbonate sediment. Sponges, worms, bryozoans and echinoderms actively bioerode, consolidate and contribute carbonate skeletal elements to the sediment. Green Mountain Geologist, Spring 1985.
