A Symposium on Geothermal Energy and its Direct Uses in the Eastern United States, 1979

Basic Information
Author: Geothermal Resources Council
Description:Compilation of publications assessing geothermal energy for the eastern United States. Utilization of the enormous potential of terrestrial heat with today's technology is economically feasible if a subsurface reservoir exists from which a fluid with elevated temperature can be produced. For district heating the minimum temperature is 55-60C (130-140F) and the production rate 70 m3/h; thus the reservoir must have high natural porosity and permeability. In impermeable rocks artificial heat extraction loops can be created.
