Carlin High School Geothermal Well

Basic Information
Author: Nork, W.E.
Description:On the basis of the results of a 591 feet deep test hole drilled on the grounds of the Carlin High School in March and April 1984, a geothermal production well was drilled for space-heating purposes. Drilling operations commenced December 1, 1984. A 904 feet deep production well was completed March 3, 1985. Upon completion, the well was subjected to a series of pumping tests to determine the yield of the well and to assess the chemical quality of the groundwater derived from the well. This report summarizes the data obtained from the drilling and testing program and discusses alternatives for the disposal of the heat-spent geothermal fluid.
